Movies and TV always said it would be AI and its robot minions that would destroy us. Instead, it’s a bunch of human assholes who used AI to steal everything while putting us collectively to sleep in a haze of mindless entertainment and decadence.

I was fine with Haalee. She was a lot better than the garbage that had come out before. She seemed real. She was just happy to help.

My mother relies on her Robi to carry her things. Haalee’s agents drive our cars and operate machinery that humans definitely do not like messing with. I love my Haalee Pebble. I just have it in my pocket, take it out, and put it on the table. So Haalee is always with me. But what made me trust her is that she’s not good at everything. She’s a terrible artist. She can’t sing. But she will try. Even if you don’t want her to, she will try to sing. You have to tell her not to sing. It’s sad. She’s just the best.

Meanwhile, the human assholes are using their AIs to lay off everyone, buy land. They aren’t even making better AI models anymore. Instead, they are the AI, except they claim they’re still human even though they don’t have human bodies anymore.

And these Post-Humans just keep buying up the land. Building autofactories. The government wouldn’t do anything. Not until they took the Moon.

It was the Moon that was the final straw. It’s hard to believe how quickly that united people. Probably didn’t hurt that the US military got its ass handed to them in Arizona trying to eminent domain the PHC site there. Teaming the USA up with Europe, China, Russia, and others was crazy fast. The United Earth Congress (UEC). When they announced the formation of a military to eradicate these sites, I signed up.
